Mask Project |
After we wrote our essays, we created a mask of our faces with plaster. I was absent the day that we made these but I made my mask the following Monday. First, we put sedan wrap on our faces and we used a straw to breath through. I had my partner put on two layers of plaster so that my mask would be strong, just like me. After the plaster, we sandpapered our masks so that they would be smooth. After sandpapering, we put some mod-podge and plater of paris on it. After we put the plaster of paris and mod-podge onto our masks, we let them dry for two days. When our masks were done drying, we started to paint them. We needed to have, at the most, 3 paintings of something that symbolized us and how we have been socialized. Our masks turned out to be beautiful pieces of art. Our exhibition was at the Durango Public Library. Both Sara Price and Matt Dooley's classrooms were combined and were all in one room together. Our exhibition went really well. We explained to the teachers and parents about our essays and what our masks meant. Not a lot of teachers and parents came to see my mask but I am glad that I had a few people who enjoyed my work. |
